Musée Picardie
The Musée de Picardie was the first museum built in France specifically to house works of art.
This prototype museum, built in 1867 under Napoleon III, later inspired the builders of other great French museums. The Palais des Arts remains the setting for an incredible collection that offers a journey through the history of the Western world from prehistory to the present day.
Classified as a historic monument in 2012, the Amiens museum brings together eclectic collections : archaeological collections: from prehistory to the Gallo-Roman era, via Greek and Egyptian antiquity,
medieval works: small precious objects and monumental sculptures,..
Fine art collections: paintings, sculptures and drawings from the 16th to the 19th century,
modern and contemporary art: paintings, sculptures, photographs and installations.
