La petite Venise du Nord
Amiens is also known for its magnificent hortillonnages, colourful floating gardens surrounded by canals, which can be explored by "barque à cornet".
The fruit and vegetables produced there are sold every Saturday at the "market on the water" in the Saint-Leu district.
It is this market and the many canals that run through the city that have earned it the nickname "Little Venice of the North".
